An arborist is a person who is trained in the art, science, and practice of tree care and tree removal. An arborist is also referred to as an arborist technicians or tree service technicians. As the name implies, an arborist works with trees and related matters such as tree trimming, tree removal, and tree maintenance. Trees are usually pruned for many reasons such as tree removal, aesthetic appeal, or changing the shape or size to make way for something else. Of course, tree trimming is often carried out by a tree specialist. In some cases, though, tree removal can be done by an arborist without the need for special training or experience. In such cases, tree trimming can be done by anyone who knows how to cut down a tree and who is willing to do the job professionally.
In tree pruning, the branches are removed, the tree is cut down, and new growth is left over. This is what tree pruning is all about. This type of tree care is more often than not done by arborists who have received special tree care certification. If tree pruning is performed incorrectly, it could lead to unhealthy branches hanging below the tree’s surface, which could result in structural damage or decay.
In this age of tree services, it is not uncommon to come across advertisements for tree service providers that offer tree trimming services free of charge. Such advertisements should be taken with a pinch of salt. A tree service company usually do not have certified arborists on their payroll, instead they have certified arborists who are willing to do the tree service for them at a reduced fee.
